CEO Succession Planning

ExecutivEdge consultants are experts in leadership at the top. We work with CEOs, their Boards and HR to develop customized approaches to CEO succession planning and CEO Coaching that work with your culture. Significant components of this process include:

  • Work with the Board and CEO to determine key leadership components for potential successors.  The Cultural Leadership Audit and/or a Lominger Competency Model helps organizations and Boards develop a CEO leadership profile that fits with the culture of the organization.
  • Help the Board and CEO identify top-level successors for coaching (see Executive Coaching Programs).
  • Prepare development plans for key successors for review with Board and CEO.
  • Keep Board and CEO informed on progress and candidate readiness
  • Recommend notations and other developmental assignments for successors
  • Use a variety of unique assessment tools in coaching successor candidates (i.e. Executive Maturity Index, Birkman, The Credibility Index among others).
  • Coach individual succession candidates, as appropriate, to accelerate readiness for the CEO role
  • Coach CEO, as desired, on best way to communicate with successors and provide leadership feedback
